I have followed the development of The Motleys since the early days in 2019. Their design has attracted me with its sleek, simple and yet versatile concept of three separate wooden blocks kept together via magnets which constitute the basis for creating so many iconic characters from history or modern culture.
They’re one of my favourite design items when it comes to making a unique gift or adding an important touch to my house. It’s great to see a product that combines thoughtful design with a genuine commitment to sustainability.

I was introduced to the Motleys by my mum when she bought me the Lady Liberty as a gift. Since then, I’ve been completely hooked and have collected one for every room in my home.
One of the things I love most is how customisable they are. I’ve even personalised a few to match my own colour scheme. The Pharaoh originally had a much darker blue, so I carefully took her apart and resprayed her to fit my Miami-inspired palette. I did the same with the Punk. The bright red hair didn’t quite work in my space, so I repainted it pink instead. It makes every piece feel unique and personal.
Beyond the products themselves, the customer experience has been fantastic. The founders are genuinely lovely. They’ve included handwritten notes, little freebies and personalised thank you messages, which makes every order feel special. It’s those small touches that create a memorable experience and make you feel valued as a customer.
I normally unsubscribe from marketing emails, but not with Motleys. I’m always excited to see what’s new, what discounts are available and what’s coming next. If anything, I’d love to see them release new characters more regularly, even if it’s just one at a time, because I’m always looking forward to adding the next Motley to my collection.

For example, a character such as “the Professor” can easily be reimagined, perhaps becoming a journalist who observes or reports on unfolding events in the client’s narrative.

I may not personally identify with every figurine, but every single one of them makes me smile in its own way. The quality, thoughtful design, and attention to detail are outstanding, and it’s clear how much passion and care goes into creating each piece. For me, they’re not just figurines, they’re little works of art with a story behind them.
